Cambridge High Performance Rehab

Cambridge, MA

This project transforms a dilapidated four-unit multifamily rental property into a high-performance modern single-family home. The project reimagines an underutilized urban building through careful adaptive reuse, creating a refined residence that prioritizes comfort, energy efficiency, durability, and long-term value.

The design and approval process required the project team to navigate significant constraints, including zero-lot-line conditions, a tight urban site, complex existing-building conditions, and substantial review by both the neighborhood and the City. Through careful design coordination, technical problem-solving, and a clear commitment to improving the property, the project overcame these challenges while remaining sensitive to its surrounding context.

The result is a contemporary home that demonstrates how older urban buildings can be thoughtfully transformed into sustainable, high-quality housing suited to modern living.
