Beijing SanLiTun Migrant Exhibit
Beijing, CN
As Design Director of INCLUDED, Matt oversaw the concept, design, and implementation of a traveling exhibit focused on the experience of migrant workers in China. The project was composed of four portable shipping containers arranged to guide visitors through the story of a typical migrant worker’s journey from the countryside to the city.

China’s rapid urbanization has transformed the country over the past several decades and lifted millions of people out of poverty. Yet many migrant workers have remained socially and economically marginalized, often denied equal access to services, stability, and recognition within the cities they help build.
The exhibit sought to make this experience visible. Through spatial sequencing, narrative, and portable architecture, the project traced the movement, dislocation, and resilience of migrant workers, creating an immersive platform for awareness, empathy, and public engagement.
