As the Design Director of INCLUDED, Matt oversaw the design and construction of a shipping container community center for INCLUDED's Shanghai Gucun Migrant worker community. The concept of the community center is that the entire building can be disassembled and moved with the migrant workers. Migrant Workers in China often live in informal settlements and can be relocated with little or no notice by local government authorities. The Community Center was built on an old industrial lot.  It contains two classrooms, and an outdoor play area. The interior cabinetry and furniture was design to be multifunctional and easily storable for a flexible interior space.
