Jennifer and Matt were cofounders of Studio Aotu based in Shanghai. As the lead designer, Jennifer was tasked, by the owner of the cafe, with creating a unique concept that would invoke the idea of a time capsule.  With this brief in mind, Jennifer conceived the idea of the machinery of time at work throughout the cafe. She invoked this feeling with a series of levers, pullies and various other elements of balance and mechanical movement. This theme was thoughtfully utilized throughout the lighting, furniture, and artwork of the cafe.
